We’re told Roger’s a bigtime fan of the 2nd Amendment – and owns a 45 Springfield Armory XD Tactical … which he also brought along to the range.

No word on how JWoww shot – but we’re told she LOVED the feeling of cold steel on her skin … and is now considering buying a handgun of her very own.

Conrad Murray Could Get More Time Because He Killed Michael Jackson

Judges, prosecutors and criminal lawyers who have spoken with TMZ agree ... Conrad Murray should not get the maximum sentence -- 4 years in prison -- but the fact that he killed Michael Jackson changes everything.

It's not supposed to be this way -- the fame of the victim should be irrelevant -- but it's hard to ignore the fame of the victim.

The people we spoke with say the typical sentence for someone in a similar position -- no criminal history, an otherwise unblemished record -- would be a "blended sentence" -- a year or 2 in jail, and then a year or 2 of community service. 

Judge Michael Pastor made it clear when he denied Murray bail -- he views the crime as extremely serious, possibly telegraphing a maximum sentence.  It's hard to tell what Pastor will do, but almost everyone considers him a fair but stern judge.

The fact that the D.A. is asking for $100 million in restitution shows how much of a difference it makes that MJ is the victim.  The reality is  -- in terms of money -- Michael is worth more dead than alive, so there should be no restitution.  His 3 kids will now get hundreds of millions in a windfall.

Here's the reality ... Murray will not serve a day in prison.  Because of a new California law, any time he gets will be served in L.A. County Jail, and the amount of time will automatically be cut in half.  And, Murray would be eligible for house arrest.

If there’s one thing we still need to discuss, it’s the 2011 Oscars and how co-host James Franco bungled them up. (If you believe that, I have bunch of leftover Sarah Palin jokes I’d like to fly for you.) Fellow Freaks and Geeks alum Seth Rogen responded to a question regarding Mr. Franco, and he finally weighed in on the Oscars’ decision to hire young hosts. Specifically, he thinks the Academy screwed James Franco over.

In an interview with Shortlist.com, Rogen considered the circumstances surrounding Franco’s dubious hosting gig.

James Franco’s a friend of yours. Would you ever host the Oscars like he did?

Not now [laughs]. I think when you agree to do something like that, you put a certain amount of faith in the institution, hoping that they’ll take care of you, and I feel like they didn’t [take care of him]. Why hire James Franco and then give him Billy Crystal’s monologue? It was like, “Oh, we’ll hire these young hosts and then we’ll just do the same sh*t we do every f*cking year.” Which to me was really odd. I think they just approached it wrong. They didn’t think it through, and they were way underprepared. I think they hung him out to dry. So I wouldn’t do it unless they hired some better writers [laughs].

I think the better question is, “Why hire James Franco to recite patter at all?” Even smoother thespians like Jon Hamm and Ryan Gosling would’ve had a tough time remaining buoyant and perky for 210 minutes. An Oscar host must be vaudevillian. There’s no getting around it. Hugh Jackman, I eagerly await your return to the dais.…

'Survivor' Producer Mark Burnett Teams Up with Joel Osteen for New TV Show

"Survivor" producer Mark Burnett is teaming up with Joel Osteen for a primetime network show in 2012, TMZ has learned.

Burnett tells TMZ, the premise of the show is that ordinary people will give up several days or longer to go on a mission with Joel Osteen, one of the most popular pastors in the world.

All of the missions will be in the confines of US soil to "start fixing things."

According to sources, Burnett and his wife Roma Downey have become close friends with Joel and his wife Victoria -- and the two couples have even spent considerable time at each other's homes.


As for the new show, a deal has not been signed with any network -- but Burnett has the power to make it happen.

Tobey Maguire Folds in High-Stakes Poker Lawsuit

Tobey Maguire is buying his way out of that high-stakes poker lawsuit -- agreeing to fork over $80,000 ... this according to new court docs.

As we previously reported, Tobey was one of 22 people sued this summer for taking Ponzi schemer Bradley Ruderman to the cleaners ... in multiple underground poker games back in 2007 and 2008.

Ruderman was arrested soon after for bilking boatloads of money from his clients.  In a grand showing of chutzpah ... Ruderman filed for bankruptcy and the bankruptcy trustees turned around and sued Maguire, Nick Cassavetes and others, trying to recoup Ruderman's gambling losses in an effort to pay his Ponzi victims back.

It sounded like a bogus bunch of lawsuits, but  according to TheHollywoodReporter, Tobey folded by paying $80 grand.  Still not bad, considering the actor burned Ruderman for more than $300,000 at the tables.

Friday Box Office: Muppets Chomp at Twilight?s Heels

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn might have held onto the #1 slot during the Thanksgiving frame, but holiday buzz lifted those plucky Muppets to a strong second place showing; with $24.7 million over three days, Jason Segel, Kermit, and Co. should ride the Rainbow Connection all the way to a very nice pile of green by weekend’s end. Meanwhile, Happy Feet Two continues to slide and Aardman Animation’s fellow wintry offering Arthur Christmas opened with a modest $4.5 million Friday. Martin Scorsese’s 3-D fall family flick Hugo, on the other hand, enjoyed a strong debut on a fraction of the screens. Maybe audiences weren’t quite ready to ring in the yuletide cheer?

(And don’t count out the charming black and white silent film homage The Artist, which debuted in limited release in just four theaters for a one-day take of $75,000, averaging $18,750 per screen…)
